Manuscript Submission Policy

Established Jan. 1, 2022

1. Purpose

1.1. This regulation is aimed at establishing the guidelines to be followed by those submitting papers to 'Qualitative Research in Asia,' the professional academic journal of the Asian Qualitative Inquiry Association.

2. Submission contents

2.1. Research papers: This refers to papers from all areas exploring research subjects using qualitative research methods such as case studies, narrative research, ethnography, grounded theory research, phenomenological methods, etc. Research papers include elements such as 1) research purpose and significance, 2) exploration of previous research, 3) application of qualitative research methods, 4) research findings, 5) conclusions and implications of the research, 6) references, etc., although there may be some differences depending on the nature of the research.

2.2. Theoretical discussion on qualitative research methodology: This includes the introduction of new qualitative research methods, discussion of controversies and limitations related to qualitative research methods, comparative analysis and critique of various qualitative research methods, and so forth. In the case of theoretical discussion, various frameworks can be utilized depending on the nature of the content.

3. Submission guidelines

3.1. The submission content must not have been published in other academic journals. Additionally, it cannot be simultaneously submitted to both this academic journal and another journal, nor can it be a duplicate submission of a paper that has already been published, in whole or in part, or contains the core research content that has already been published.

3.2 Authors may submit up to a maximum of two papers per issue.

3.3 The deadline for paper submission is generally April 30th, October 30th, which is two months before the publication date. However, the deadline may be extended up to 15 days based on the decision of the editorial board if necessary.

3.4. The eligibility for paper submission is restricted to members of the AQIA. If non-members are included as co-authors, submission is permissible only after they become members of the association.

3.5 The submitted papers must be written in English only.

3.6 The submitted papers must be written in the original file format provided on the society's website, and then submitted via email for paper submission.

3.7 The association conducts blind peer review, where reviewers do not receive information about the authors. Therefore, manuscripts submitted for review should not include author names or affiliations.

3.8  The journal strongly encourages researchers to disclose the procedures they have undertaken in their submissions to adhere to ethical standards as researchers.

3.9 After receiving the review results from the reviewers, the author must submit a revised version of the manuscript and a response letter within two weeks. Failure to submit the revised version and response letter within one month will result in automatic disqualification from the review process.

3.10. Once a paper has been submitted to this journal and received a final decision of 'reject,' it cannot be resubmitted without significant revisions to both the title and content.

3.11. The responsibility lies with the author for cases of non-compliance with submission guidelines and issues arising from errors in the manuscript.
